What Works Can Change

The Reality: In an effort to improve continues US operations in Afghanistan, the Afghan government and US Defense Secretary Robert Gates have announced a new plan that will work to strengthen the Afghan military and restructure the foreign military command.

The Thought: We all have ways that we typically like to do things. Most often, I'm guessing these ways are based on approaches that worked for us in the past.

Dealing with Hypocrisy

The Reality: Christians do and have done horrible things in the name of God. Be it wars, stripping people of their land or resources, the fall of tele-evangelists, heinous actions like this one, or other instances where walk and talk don't match, those bearing the name Christian are, all too often, not Christ-like.

The Thought: If you've ever spent time in Europe, you can't help but notice how compact everything is and how tightly it's integrated with mass transit, an approach to development that is obviously linked to a smaller amount of land to build on.

Bleary eyed, I dragged myself out of bed at 5 a.m. to conduct a nonscientific survey of the first hundred or so people in line at the flagship Apple Store on 59th Street. I asked them for their first name, age, where they lived, their occupation and some miscellaneous details.

Discussion Starter: I was one of those who was out at the crack of dawn to get in line for an iPhone ...
